After a brief introduction of each, participants will be given the opportunity to manipulate the website. It is not necessary to participate in the workshop, but setting up your own Google email account prior to attending would allow you to link to the websites through a Google Document.

You've heard a lot about Twitter in the news but how can it be used in education? Learn how teachers are using Twitter to build powerful learning networks and exchanging ideas with teaching peers from around the world. Twitter is a free online application. We will also discuss the use of Skype and G-Mail Video Chat (both free applications) in the classroom. Learn how Eric's classes have held live video conferences with the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and an author on the East Coast - all from their 8th grade classroom at South Valley Junior High in Liberty, Missouri.

Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship is now a topic all districts need to cover. Kansas City would like to showcase how our students are learning about the various roles of Digital Citizenship such as Access, Commerce, Communication, Etiquette, Rights & Responsibilities, Safety, and Security using our K-8 Technology curriculum. Kansas City was one of 14 districts chosen to represent their state during a presentation at the Library of Congress at this year's NECC conference in Washington DC. It's purpose was to showcase to Congress how students are using technology to learn.
