Participants will explore a variety of interactive pre-writing tools and, then, will be shown how to harvest free images and sounds from the Internet. Finally, a visual representation of their pre-writing activities will be created using PhotoStory 3. Examples and resources will be provided.

Tim Berners-Lee, the driving force behind the worldwide web, first presented his vision for the Semantic Web in the early 1990s. His model was for a web that included not only human readable content but information that can be processed by machines (computers) that provide logic and meaning - semantics. The marriage of the semantic web and learning objects has the potential to create an e-learning framework that will be flexible, personalized, and ubiquitous. To realize the potential for this marriage, authors of learning objects need to have an understanding of this emerging framework.
